Lovely Saturday

I had an absolutely wonderful Saturday spend at home with my hubby and baby. We ended the day with the in-laws watching baby while we sat in the hot tub...where I plotted on my book with hubby! I've been a little stuck between lack of sleep/bad sleep and two new characters. I know how I thought these new characters would appear but since I've been at their point of introduction I realized that it wasn't going to quite work that way. Plotting with hubby has given me some good ideas to play with that make more since. Now I just have to get more/better sleep so that I can get these ideas organized! Wish me luck and good day to all of you!

Soooo Tired...

Baby has not slept well the past 2 nights. The night before, I'm assuming the cause was teething. Last night he had a stuffy nose, so of course for comfort he wants a pacifier. Can he breath and suck on a pacifier with a stuffy nose? NO! I was up several times and then finally gave in and slept on the recliner holding him. As for today, CRABBY baby=CRABBY mommy! Don't get me wrong, I love baby, but I love my sleep too! lol, this is not what having kids is ALL about, but it is a big PART of it!
Add on top of being super tired + crabby baby+ crabby self+ 2 "new" characters getting ready to enter the scene=stuck! I'll get past it, I just need to be in a good mood and not be so tired. Someday but not today. Better days and nights to all of you!

Satisfaction

So, I have reached my goal for January and in fact have surpassed it! *Celebrating* I am however, going to continue on as if I haven't reached my goal. Keeping in mind life and baby, I wouldn't want slacker'd-ness(is that a word?) now to ruin me for later. Plus, while I have set a reasonable goal for finishing the first draft, I would be very happy to have it done sooner!
My current word count is 37,663. I have surpassed my goal by over 1,000 words! Ok, I'll stop bragging now :) Come February 1st I will take into account the current word count that day and set my goal for the month, keeping the same daily goal of 258 words(more if I want weekends off). Also adding to my satisfaction today is that, I worked on my WIP both Saturday and Sunday! Go me! OK really, I'll stop now. I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Short and Sweet

And the numbers are...word count: 36,783; page: 112.

I'm getting sleepy...

Current word count: 36,065
I have been practicing discipline and it's been working! Now, I wonder, will I blow my goal this weekend? Possibly, because I tend to use the weekend as family time and I don't write too much if any(I do worry and think about it though).
I'm so tired! Baby slept rotten last night. The one negative that I can think of about having moved is living in such a small apartment. I would definetely parent different if baby's crib wasn't in our room. I wish he had his own room! Hubby and I disaggree on night feedings. There's been times where I would just let baby cry it out but because hubby works, he just wantd baby fed. I don't believe baby always needs fed, although he does eat it. Oh well, I will deal with what I've got and not be grumpy 'cause I'm super grateful that we live close to our families.

Amazing but not Surprising

So because I've been such a slacker about getting my daily word count goals done and I know they are easy to hit if I just type, I applied some discipline to myself. Normally, I've been spending baby's nap time surfing the web or holding him. Today I told myself that before I could have my guilty pleasure of web surfing, I must write for at least 15 minutes. My word count is now 35,032 and I wrote a whopping 1,336 words today. Amazing, but not surprising :) Mind over matter and all that ;)

Avatar

So I went on a date with hubby today :) We left baby with his parents and went to see the movie Avatar. I loved it! I will not comment/review it here for two reasons. One is that for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, I don't want to ruin it in any way and the second reason is because I'm still soaking it in, even now, 4 hours later. When a story/movie hits me like that, I just love replaying it over and over again in my head.
Oh and a plus from the movie would be 827 new words. It wasn't taking an idea from the movie. What it was, was taking the feeling a relationship in the movie gave me, twisting it and being inspired by that feeling to put together a new scene. Now, the negative part is that this scene will occur several chapters later from where I'm at right now,so those words aren't currently raising my word count :(. I have resisted doing this hippity hoppity thing until now. The feeling was so grand and helped me shape the scene so well, I refused to lose it.
I just love writing from inspiration. I love when writing wells up and springs forth rather than the hunting expidition. Anyhow, I hope you watch, or have all ready watched, and enjoyed Avatar! It is on my to buy list!

Progress...

...of course, not progress of the writing type. I have been sorely neglecting that. Baby got in a sitting position from his belly all on his own for the first time today. Ok, that's it for now. I have my mother in law and my niece visiting for the moment :)

Here Kitty, Kitty

First, a numbers check in: current word count is 32,397; number of words wrote yesterday 1,617 (yes, I wrote like crazy!); page number is 98.

I had a wonderful weekend which is part of why I wrote so much yesterday. I didn't write F, S, or Su, so I had to get my word count goal caught up. Last minute, hubby, baby and I decided to go see some cousins and friends from where we used to live. We also went to a union meeting for hubby's job. It was the belated holidays meeting, so we got a free meal. Unfortunately, I didn't learn from last year and I ordered steak again. I do not like rare steak and that's how it was cooked. Yuck! On a happy note, I got to visit the whole time with a college friend. It was great to catch up! Baby was happy and friendly with everyone. However, come Sat. night, he was crying for no known reason and didn't want to go to sleep(even when we used the secret weapon of apple juice.) I can only guess he was too hyped up from lot's of car riding and meeting all kinds of new people.

Ok, now for my post title, here's my fave kitty. Yes I know I shouldn't have fave's, but I do, and that is that.

SPOILERS AHEAD, Bound to Shadows by Keri Arthur

Author: Keri Arthur, Book: Bound to Shadows (book 8 in the Riley Jensen series)
I just finished this book yesterday. This is the first book I'ver read this year and the first I've read since October 2009. I loved it!!! In the beginning of this series, I wasn't sure how much I actually like Riley. She kept the books worth reading, but I'm not into the whole must have sex at the full moon thing. However, I also don't know any werewolves, so who knows, maybe I'd be more understanding if I did ;) Throughout the series it has seemed that Riley is always struggling with major issues that effect both her and the people she loves. I almost always feel like she's making the wrong decision! But it always works out in the end and the struggle makes her so very real and relatable! I especially like how Keri handled the soul mate issue and Riley's having two souls. The fact that Kye was absolutely not right for Riley but was her soul mate was captivating. The whole soul mate issue is one that can go so many ways and Keri took it just the right way for Riley. It's still sad that Riley literally had to kill her dream. Keri did such a good job, I'm looking forward to see how she wraps up Riley's series.

Let it snow, or not, or may be so?

So it's snowing, really for the first time this winter. I don't quite know how I feel about it. Before I would share the excitement that many others feel, but since I don't have a job(or at least a leave the house job) and I'm not in school, I am fairly indifferent. Because of baby, it's not like I have to spend a whole lot of time outside anyways. Not that I really mind that, because I hate cold weather.

Anyways, the numbers are: ~50 minutes spent writing between yesteday and today, 847 words yesterday and 972 words today, I'm on page number 93 and the Word Count is 30,455. So all is well in that department.

Baby has not been sleeping all that great the past couple of nights. He woke up much earlier the other night to eat. I can not even begin to predict my child! I will say, he is definetely teething right now, so anything goes. He has 4 swolen spots on his top gum. I attempt to check each day for a pearly white, but none have shown up top yet :(

Now, purely for the sake of showing off, I thought I'd add a picture of one of my horses. This is Rain, a little paint mare that I have for sale :)

The Numbers

Ok, so here are the brief :) numbers from 2009 and the first numbers from 2010.
2009
Number of words written: 28,139
Time spent so far on current WIP: Started around 9/6/09 with plotting, so almost 4 months

2010:
Current word count: 28,636
So I'm thinking of a round about goal of 75,000 words total for this YA book. What does that mean progresswise? Well 75,000 minus 28,636 equals 46,364 more words to go! Here's to hoping that I write those words faster than the first 28,636!
To finish this first draft in the next six months I need to write about 258 words a day, and more if a don't write on the weekends. So for each month I need to write 7740 words (approximately.) And that means that come February 1st, my word count should be at: 36376.
Wish me luck!
